WHAT is a NATURAL MEDICINE PRACTITIONER?

I often get asked "What is a Natural Medicine Practitioner?" so I thought it would be prudent to give a brief description.

A Natural Medicine Practitioner, just like a Naturopath, is often called a "jack-of-all-trades" in the wholistic field, simply because of their extensive training. He or she will have at least 3-4 years of full-time study at a college (or equivalent) up their sleeve, and will be trained in modalities such as

*
herbal medicine
* homoeopathy
* nutrition
* essences (flower and gem)
* energy balancing techniques
* stress management techniques
* applied kinesiology (muscle testing)

Now you can see where the "jack-of-all-trades" label comes from! We all have extensive training and this allows us to pick and choose the most appropriate modality for each person we are working with. Some Naturopaths are even trained in acupuncture (I am not).

Although I am trained in all of the above, my most favorite modality is herbal medicine. I love the balancing and healing effects of the different plants available to us. An initial session will last 1-2 hours; review sessions will last 20-60 minutes, depending on client needs.
